Jan. 11/ Ep.3/ Unlock Your Best Self: The Power of Personalized Health Coaching
I still remember the summer before I turned 16, when I was terribly overweight and trying to hide from the world. I made a decision that changed everything - I lost 20 pounds, and on my tall, big-boned frame, it made a huge difference. When I walked into 10th grade that Fall, I felt like a completely different person. That experience sparked a journey I never expected—one that led me to not only reclaim my health but also to help other women do the same. Over the years, I've learned that true wellness is about more than just weight—it's about feeling good, both inside and out. That’s why I created my 1:1 coaching program: to guide women like you to finally feel like the best version of yourself, no matter how busy life gets.
I understand the challenges that come with prioritizing health while managing a busy life. My own health journey—shaped by struggles with weight, emotional turmoil, and the pressures of work and family—has inspired me to create a coaching program that addresses not only physical wellness but the emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of life. In this post, I want to share why I created my 1:1 coaching program, the transformation I hope to bring to my clients, and what makes my approach unique.
A Lifelong Journey to Health
From a young age, I struggled with my health. At just five years old, I was already dealing with being overweight, and the teasing I received left me with deep feelings of shame and unworthiness. By 14, I reached nearly 200 pounds, and my weight continued to define how I saw myself and how others saw me. The teasing became relentless, and I withdrew, trying to hide from the spotlight.
However, in the summer before I turned 16, I made a decision to take control of my health. I lost 20 pounds and gained a newfound sense of confidence. But, as I continued my journey, I swung from one extreme to another—becoming obsessed with weight loss and pushing myself too far. In college, I lost too much weight and experienced health consequences like amenorrhea for 18 months and awful skin conditions. It was a tough lesson, but it taught me that true wellness is not about being the skinniest version of yourself—it’s about being the healthiest.
Over the years, after giving birth to three children and navigating the many physical and emotional ups and downs with that process, I learned the importance of prioritizing overall health and well-being. These lessons have become the foundation for my approach to coaching, and I want to share what I’ve learned with other women who may be struggling to find a balance between health and their busy lives.
Qualifications That Matter
I didn’t get to this place by chance. I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and while my education and certification are essential, my personal experiences are just as important. I’ve walked the path myself. I’ve been where many of my clients are: juggling family, career, and personal health—and feeling like something has to give.
I bring both my professional training and my lived experience to the table. I understand the struggles of trying to stay healthy while managing a busy life, and I use these insights to guide my clients with empathy and real-world understanding.
Client Challenges
The specific challenges my clients face can be a lot of things, but some of the common threads are lack of energy, lack of nutrition and body movement, less than ideal sleep, and anxiety. The beautiful thing about my coaching program is sometimes women think they are experiencing a certain challenge for a specific reason, but during our time together they find out the root cause of that issue is something they didn’t expect.
Why I Created the 1:1 Coaching Program
I entered my health coach training program knowing I wanted to focus on 1:1 coaching. In my corporate career, I’ve been a people manager for more than four years, and one of my favorite aspects of the role is coaching my team members individually. These 1:1 conversations, where I really get to know someone and help them overcome challenges, have been incredibly rewarding. This made it clear to me that the most impactful way for me to help others is through personalized, one-on-one support.
I’ve seen that people need more than a cookie-cutter approach to health. They need someone to understand their unique challenges and guide them in a way that feels personal, supportive, and transformative. This is exactly why I created my 1:1 coaching program: to give women the tools they need to prioritize their health, not just for themselves, but for their families as well.
Also, I’m a self-diagnosed introvert! I’m not a fan of large crowds or rooms full of people. Of course sometimes we all have to partake in those things because it’s part of life, but my preference based on my personality is to have smaller, intimate settings. To me, that’s where the magic happens, especially when you build trust between two people.
My own journey with health challenges has given me a deep understanding of what it feels like to struggle with self-worth, balance, and sustainable wellness. From dealing with weight issues at a young age to experiencing the emotional and physical tolls of extreme dieting and stress, I’ve lived the ups and downs that many of my clients face. These personal experiences have shaped my approach to coaching by emphasizing compassion, flexibility, and the importance of addressing not just the physical, but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being.
As a busy professional and mother, I also understand firsthand how challenging it can be to prioritize self-care while managing family and career. This unique point of reference allows me to meet clients where they are, providing personalized guidance that fits into their lives and ultimately empowers them to take charge of their health in a lasting way.
Key Features of the Program
What makes my program unique is the personalized attention and accountability I offer. Some key features include:
Health History Review: We start by reviewing an extensive health history. This helps both the client and me understand where they’ve been, what’s working, and what needs attention. It’s an eye-opening process that builds self-awareness, helping clients understand their current habits and challenges.
1:1 Coaching Sessions: Twice a month, we meet for 30-45 minutes to check in on progress, reassess goals, and ensure we’re staying on track. The program is flexible and allows for goal adjustments as needed.
Weekly Check-ins: Even when we don’t have a coaching session, I stay connected with my clients through text or email check-ins. This helps maintain accountability and offers support in real-time.
Coaching Program Summary: At the end of the program, clients receive a comprehensive summary of their goals, progress, and outcomes. This summary not only reflects what they’ve achieved but also serves as a roadmap for their continued journey toward wellness.
The Outcome: Empowering Clients to Lead Their Own Wellness Journey
The ultimate goal of this program is for my clients to feel empowered to continue their wellness journey independently. While the program is client-led—meaning the client defines their own goals and transformations—my role is to guide, support, and provide the tools they need to succeed. I want my clients to leave each session feeling like they can take on their health goals on their own, with the confidence and awareness to keep moving forward.
Why My Program Stands Out
In today’s wellness landscape, there are many subscription-based, DIY programs that offer meal plans, workout routines, and meditation guides. While these programs can be helpful, they lack the human connection that makes a true transformation possible. If you wake up one morning feeling overwhelmed or stuck, will a subscription service check in with you and help you address what’s holding you back?
That’s where my program stands apart. The human connection is at the heart of everything I do. Coaching is about more than just following a plan—it’s about understanding why things aren’t working and making meaningful changes that are rooted in empathy and personalized support.
The feedback I’ve received on my coaching program and other offers is that it’s well worth the time and money. My clients have experienced transformations such as improved sleep and an improved ability to deal with stress, less bloating, a sense of empowerment, and realizations about what’s truly holding them back in life. Sometimes what we think is holding us back is just the outer layer of the onion and we need to peel it back to unlock the truth about our experience.
The Future of Health Coaching
I believe health coaching is going to explode in 2025 and beyond because I live in the United States where 90% or more of the population is experiencing persistent anxiety and/or some kind of metabolic health issue, such as pre-diabetes or Type 2 diabetes, among others. We spend more on medical interventions and on the health & wellness industry than any other country, yet collectively we are the least healthiest people on the planet. We are reaching a crisis point and I believe that many people are waking up to the fact that there’s more to health than getting a prescription from their doctor. There’s a lot more - and that’s why health coaching is such a necessary and important tool at this pivotal time.
